ICE Parents/Guardians...Good Morning...would you please take a few seconds to fill out a very short form/survey indicating your availability/interest for this Wednesday's ICE Parent Information Night? Completing this will give us an idea of copies of handouts we need.

Two of today's newsletter items are important to next week, so this is an extra message to emphasize those items. First, on Wednesday, September 17, ICE will host an INFORMATION NIGHT. This is a chance to get to meet/visit with Mr. Bizarri, tour the building, and receive info on a variety of topics - a link to the agenda as well as a link RSVP are included on the flyer. If you attended this event last year, you are certainly welcome to attend this year - times are listed on the flyer. Also, ICE will be offering a few APPAREL ITEMS that you may be interested in that commemorate the building's 70th birthday coming up this winter, as well as highlight the school's original team mascot - the Red Devils!. Students will have a copy of the order form in their take-home folders today, and a copy of the order form was pushed out with today's newsletter. We'll collect order forms next week, and we'll submit an order next Friday.

This week, ICE students and staff are practicing our Standard Response Protocol (SRP) safety procedure drills. Monday we practiced HOLD, which is basically remaining in classrooms with normal classroom activity, but keeping the hallways cleared. Yesterday, we practiced SECURE, which is an alert of some type of event outside the building, so no one is allowed to enter or exit, but normal activities can continue inside the building. Today, we practiced LOCKDOWN, which the procedure used when there is a possible threat identified - the threat could be inside or outside the building. Tomorrow, we will practice EVACUATE, which used to be called a "fire drill", but could be used in other situations when students and staff need to exit the building. On Friday, we will practice SHELTER, which used to be called a "tornado drill" but could also be used with some type of severe condition (usually weather related). These practices are part of the District's Plan to effectively respond to possible emergency situations. All five are generally practiced at the start of the school year, the drills are then practiced individually (or together) at various times during the school year to serve as "reminder drills" to the procedures.

After a second "re-start" this week, the atmosphere at ICE feels like students (and staff) are settling in. Here are some random Friday pics to enjoy. We will be attempting to have a parent information evening sometime in September to share information, give a tour of the building, and take questions. Further info to be shared when that event is finalized.
