Current Rockridge junior, and soon-to-be senior, Grady Craver committed to his future at the High School Apprenticeship Signing Day event at the Waterfront Convention Center when he signed a letter of intent with John Deere Harvester on May 10th, 2023. This Signing Day event honors the commitment the students are making as they deserve to be celebrated just as much as we do our college athletes. We applaud Grady for embracing his interests and committing to his goals, instead of paying for his education after graduation, he is getting paid for his education right now.
Grady will begin his on-the-job learning in the summer between 11th and 12th grade by working eight hours a day at John Deere Harvester. During his senior year, he’ll spend four hours a day working on-site while attending a half-day of school. After graduation, Grady will continue his apprenticeship until all related training hours and standards are met. This amazing program not only benefits the students but the employers and the community as well. Companies are embracing this program by grooming homegrown loyal students, from scratch, who will likely stick with them and develop into future highly skilled trade leaders.
The Registered High School Apprenticeship Program (RIHAP) is a collaborative effort coordinated by the Chamber in partnership with education and industry partners. The apprenticeship program allows students to address workforce challenges by developing and retaining a skilled talent pool. Students, who are enrolled in the Registered High School Apprenticeship Program (RHSAP), build technical and professional skills in the classroom and through on-the-job learning with partner companies, many of which are seeking to build their future workforce. Additionally, these will graduate with a high school diploma, college credits, and national industry credentials.
Congratulations Grady!!
Taking a moment to be grateful for our PTO! We look forward to continuing this great partnership!
