🚨 School Bus Safety Reminder 🚨 This morning, two vehicles illegally passed a stopped school bus as it was picking up a student for school.
➡️ The yellow warning lights were activated 14 seconds before the bus stopped, giving both drivers plenty of time to prepare.
➡️ From the moment the bus stopped to when it started moving again was less than 15 seconds. If convicted, these drivers now face a minimum $300 fine in addition to a minimum 3-month license suspension—all because they could not wait 15 seconds for a child to safely board their bus.
⚠️ Please remember: When a school bus stops and its lights are flashing, the law requires YOU to stop. A child’s life is worth far more than saving a few seconds on your commute.

Illinois City Elementary Parents/Guardians. Today was day one of 25-26 school year....a lot of learning, especially for our kindergarten students. Our staff, too, is learning with a new master schedule, staffing changes, a new math curriculum, and other parts to a new school year.. Basically we are all learning and working to settle in to a new school year. If something was confusing to you today, and you need to ask a question (or two or ten!), please drop me an email, and I'll work to get an answer to you. And if you hear great things from your student about the first day, throw those things at me too - jbizarri@rr300.org - I'd appreciate forwarding those to our staff. Tomorrow and Monday are 1:30 dismissal schedules, and those can throw timing off - especially when we haven't even yet settled into timing on a "regular day". Please be patient as we continue to all learn together!

A big thank you for Greg, Keaton, and Austin for the work on the ICE playground this afternoon in hot weather. A LOT of mulch had washed away during the recent heavy rains we have experienced just after new mulch had arrived and been spread last week. This was not a fun job on a hot August afternoon. Thanks for this work and all the work that FBG and our maintenance crew do for our building!

Kindergarten through High School families utilizing Andalusia as a Bus Stop/Interchange, please make note of the map outlining bus locations and parking options. DO NOT USE 2nd St. E. Park on 7th Ave, but do NOT block driveways. DO NOT U-TURN on 7th Ave. Please wait with your students at the front entrance of Andalusia. Mornings are busy, and we understand the need to get to work.
