Congratulations to Mr. Curtis Fischer-Oelschlaeger for being honored today as one of the RIROE Employees of the Month. Mr. O does an amazing job with all of our choir activities. Last week alone he presented our Veterans' Day Assembly and the Fall Show Choir Concert while also assisting with preparations for our Fall Play and the upcoming Holiday Concerts. Curtis also serves as the President of the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA), which means he devotes extra time to leading music educators and conducting district festivals across the state. He is a tireless advocate for the Arts in our school district!
The Junior High Speech Team represented Rockridge at the IESA contest in Geneseo. Every team delivered an impressive performance.

Rockridge Junior High is pleased to be awarding Keaton Frazelle with the 6th grade Student of the month award. He is the daughter of Eston and Kelsey Frazelle. He has one sibling, Aiden, who also attends Rockridge Jr. High. Outside of school Keaton enjoys playing video games, hanging out with friends, and playing with his bearded dragon. While at school, he participates in choir, band, speech, and art club. His favorite subject in school is Social Studies. His favorite movie is Avatar- the Last Air Bender and his favorite foods are takis, ramen, tacos, and sushi. His favorite memory thus far this school year has been going to the school dance. People would say that his top three qualities are that he is kind, funny and empathetic. He is a black belt in karate and also went to ILMEA for Ukulele. He looks up to his brother Aiden because he always helps him and plays with him. In the future Keaton would like to pursue a career as a Game Designer. A few things Keaton would want people to know about him is that he never wanted to be an only child because it’s boring and he actually loves vegetables.

Mrs. Wright, his ELA teacher says “Keaton is a hard worker. He maintains a positive attitude and is always willing to share his ideas in class. Additionally, he is kind and helpful to others.“
Mrs. Riess, his Science teacher says “ Keaton is a compassionate student who strives to always do his best, and keeps a positive attitude even when things get tough. He is polite and a good example for others.”
Mr. O, his Choir teacher says “Keaton is kind and always enters the room with a smile. He is ready to work hard and eager to learn.”
Ms. Casey, his Social Studies teacher says “Keaton comes to class prepared and ready to learn. He is helpful and kind to everyone in the class, and when working in groups, he makes sure everyone is included. He is a great friend to all!”
Mr. Walker, his Band teacher says “ Keaton is a very positive presence in the beginning band. He’s playing trumpet, and is already getting a great sound and asks very thoughtful questions in class. He also has a good sense of when it’s time to focus and when it’s okay to be a little silly.”

Congratulations to these Rockridge JH & HS Music students, plus Claire Stanforth, who was a late addition to the list. They are participating today in the ILMEA District Festival at Augustana College to start their quest for all-state honors!
Congratulations to Mr. Strachan! He is our October's RIROE Employee of the Month at Rockridge Junior High! He is our 8th grade science teacher and we are so lucky to have such a dedicated and passionate teacher on our staff!

Representatives will be available to answer questions about the upcoming referendum that includes a new elementary building and air conditioning at the JH/HS building.
