Illinois State Scholars
The Illinois Student Assistance Commission announces its State Scholar Finalists each fall. Students from nearly every high school in Illinois compete in the program. These top performing seniors are selected based on their ACT or SAT scores and their grade point average at the end of their junior year. The students rank in approximately the top ten percent of graduates from Illinois high schools, designating their strong academic standing. The Illinois State Scholar designation is a non-monetary award, however it is a tremendous achievement that students can list on college admission and scholarship applications. I am happy to announce that the Rockridge High School Class of 2026 has a total of six Illinois State Scholars! These students were honored at the December Board Meeting and are listed on a banner that will hang in the State Trophy Case. In addition, these students will be recognized with a certificate and special medallion next May during the Academic Awards Night Program. This year's Illinois State Scholars are (from left to right) Cady Hembd, Leighton Keisel, Benjamin Krebs, Lillian Fuhr, Josephina Hughes, and Avery Flynn.
