FREE Cyber Guide Presentation
The Mercer County School District will hosting a Cyber Guide presentation for parents and the general public on Monday, November 13th from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mercer County Intermediate School. The presenter is Detective Richard Wistocki from Naperville.   TOPICS INCLUDE: * Cyber-Bullying * File Sharing * How to protect your family from Cyber-Bullies * Sexting * Understanding what is on your child’s phone applications * Video Sharing online * Internet predators on having access to our children through their cell phone applications * Controlling and monitoring computers in your home * The dangers of online gaming * Controlling and monitoring your child’s cell phone * The dangers of posting photos to Twitter, Instagram, and Snap Chat * Which cell phone is the safest for my child

Three Rockridge FFA Members Awarded National American FFA Degree
Each year, the National FFA Organization honors FFA members who show the utmost dedication to the organization through their desire to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. The American FFA Degree is bestowed upon a select group of students in recognition of their years of academic and professional excellence. This year 4,071 American Degrees will be awarded.
This year, three Rockridge HS graduates will be awarded the American FFA Degree at the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 25-28 in Indianapolis. The recipients are Ms. Tayler Johnson, daughter of Scott & Jamie Johnson of Taylor Ridge, Mr. Logan Crawford, son of Lauren & Mary Kay Crawford of Taylor Ridge, and Mr. Nathan Gorham, son of Bill & Tammy Gorham of Illinois City. All are 2016 graduates of Rockridge High School.
Johnson, Crawford, & Gorham follow only three other recipients of this prestigious FFA Degree from Rockridge High School: Blair Blaser in 1975, Tom DeClerck in 1980, and Lucas Crawford (Logan’s brother) in 2015.
The American Degrees will be awarded Saturday, October 28, 2017 in a ceremony beginning at 7:30 am. The program will be broadcast live across the country on RFD-TV. Check local listings for the channel on your cable or satellite provider.

Rocket Nation Donation
Representatives from CBI Bank & Trust were on hand at the Rockridge Football Game on Friday, October 20th to make a special check presentation to Rockridge High School.
Since 2015, the b
ank and the school have been partners in the “Rocket Nation” program. It links the performance of five varsity sports teams to a series of season-end donations by the bank.  The sports are football, boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, softball and baseball, with the proceeds used at the sole discretion of the school provide funding for special, unbudgeted needs.  On Friday night, the bank presented the check for the Spring 2017 softball and baseball season.  The donation totaled $1,675.00 and brings the life-of-program donation to a grand total of $12,200!  Pictured in the attached photo from left to right are Katy Hasson, Rockridge HS Principal, and representatives of CBI Bank & Trust Cindy Pauley, Diane Rudsell, Joyce Hildebrant, & Rick Gosney.

RJHS Teacher Earns IRTAF Grant
The Illinois Retired Teachers Association Foundation (IRTAF) awards a total of $36,500 in grant money to several public school educators (Pre-K through 12) statewide. IRTAF is affiliated with the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, a lobbying group for retired educators, with a current membership of over 37,000. Congratulations to the Rockridge JH & HS Music Students listed below who were selected for ILMEA District Festivals based on auditions held at Geneseo on Saturday, September 30th. This is the first step in the process that HS Music Students go through to be considered for ILMEA All-State Bands & Choirs.

The ILMEA District Jazz Festival is Saturday, November 4th at Mendota High School, and the ILMEA All-District Music Festival is Saturday, November 11th at Augustana College.
Chris Bragg Honored as "Employee of the Year"  FBG Service Corporation announced that Christine Bragg, an employee of the company’s Quad Cities District, was honored as the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) Employee of the Year at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas last week.  Chris is the building custodian at Taylor Ridge Elementary School.  Click here to read the full story.

Bus Drivers Needed
Looking for work? The Rockridge School District is looking for full time and sub bus drivers. Drivers can work a few hours per day and still go golfing or shopping during the day. Full-time drivers only work 174 days per year and earn close to $10K/year. If you're interested in learning more, please call 309-793-8080.

FFA Judging Team Fundraisers
Help support our Rockridge FFA LIvestock Judging team as they travel to Denver in January to represent Illinois at the National Western Roundup.  Members of the team are asking for donations of corn to help cover expenses.  If you are interested contact Mr. Hyett at (309)-791-7452 or any team member to make further arrangements.  Any and all donations are very much appreciated.  Team members are: Cole Whisman, Brittany Olson, Jake Bohnsack, Mia Freyermuth, & Eliza LIlliman.
