Rock the Ridge - August 19th
The Rockridge Booster Club – also known as the team behind the team – is hosting a day-long event at the Andalusia Lion’s Club on Saturday, August 19, 2017. 6th Grade Orientation - August 16th
In order to make the transition to junior high a good one, all 6th graders & their parents are invited to attend the 6th Grade Orientation Night on Wednesday, August 16th at 6:30 pm. This orientation will be held in the Rockridge High School Auditorium.  At this meeting we will review the Junior High Student Handbook, discuss techniques to increase success at this level, and share some valuable tips for students & parents.  At the conclusion of the meeting students and parents will have the opportunity to tour the Junior High. This will give new students a head start in becoming familiar with the locations of their lockers & classrooms. Students who have pre-paid for PE Clothes will be able to pick up these items in the JH Boys’ Gym.  See you there!  Please call the JH Office at 309-793-8040 with any questions.

7th & 8th Grade Backpack Night - Aug 17th
All returning 7th & 8th grade students are invited to the JH Backpack Night on Thursday, August 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Students are invited to bring school supplies to their locker.  Students who have pre-paid for their PE Clothes will be able to pick up these items in the JH Boys' Gym.  There will be sign ups for fall sports available.  Students & parents can tour the JH to locate lockers & classrooms.  Please call the JH Office at 309-793-8040 with any questions.

JH Fall Sports Player/Parent Meeting
Tuesday, August 22nd at 6:00 pm
All boys planning to play football and girls planning to play basketball this fall & their parents are expected to attend the JH Fall Sports Player/Parent Meeting on Tuesday, August 22nd at 6:00 pm in the RHS Auditorium.  Player paperwork will be completed and the Activity Fee of $50 per sport will be collected.  Players must have a current sports physical on file before the start of practice in order to participate.  Football practice begins Monday, August 21st and Girls' Basketball practice begins Monday, August 28th.  Please call the JH Office at 309-793-8040 with any questions.

2017-18 Student Registration Reminder
Thanks to everyone who came in to our registration Fee Day on July 19th. We appreciate your assistance in getting your students registered for the 2017-18 school year, but understand that some were not able in to finalize registration. JH Parents who have not yet paid can pay their fees in the Rockridge Jr. High School Office daily between the hours of 7:30 am and 2:00 pm.

HOMECOMING 2017 "Fighting Crime One Game at a Time"
This year's Homecoming is a Super Hero Theme. The Homecoming Parade, Chili Supper, & Pep Rally are scheduled for Thursday, September 28th. The Rockets will face Peru St. Bede in the Homecoming Football Game on Friday, September 29th, and the Homecoming Dance will take place in the North Gymnasium on Saturday, September 30th from 8:00-11:00 pm.

The Rockridge HS Student Council is now taking orders for Homecoming T-Shirts to commemorate this year's event.  Click here for a design preview.  T-shirts are $10 each and all proceeds benefit the RHS Student Council.  Click here to download an order form.  All orders must be pre-paid and delivered to the RHS Office by Friday, September 15th.  Please contact Student Council Sponsor Mrs. Aimee Neece with any questions about the t-shirt orders or other Homecoming events.  Click here to download a parade entry form.

The 2016-17 Yearbooks have arrived - Come in for a Yearbook Signing Party!
Yearbooks will be distributed at Rockridge HS in Room W-2 (Mrs. Bizarri's former classroom next to the HS Office) on Monday, August 7th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and again on Wednesday, August 9th from 10:00 am to noon. Students are encouraged to stick around during the 2-hour distribution window to exchange signatures with friends.  Anyone unable to make it during these two designated times can pick up their yearbook during school hours beginning Friday, August 18th. Questions can be directed to Ms. Cassey Attebery, the Tempus Fugit Adviser, at 309-793-8020 or cattebery@rr300.org.

Class of 2018 Senior Portraits
Next year's seniors are reminded they must get their official senior portrait taken by Photographic Arts by GPI this summer.  As a convenience to students and parents, PA-GPI will be taking portraits AT RHS on Tuesday, June 27th.  Click here to learn more...

NOTICE: ROCKRIDGE CUSD #300 STUDENT RECORDS   All Rockridge CUSD #300 special education students that graduated the year of 2012 may pick up their temporary records from the Rockridge Guidance Office until September 1, 2017. After that date, they will be destroyed. The records may contain information required for Department of Rehabilitation Services Eligibility, SSI, etc.

Class of 2018 - Information on Sign-ups for the Fall 2017 PSAT Test at RHS:
Each year, Rockridge High School has offered the PSAT/NMSQT Test to the juniors in the fall as an optional college preparatory test. Juniors who score in the top national percentiles on this test may be eligible for multiple scholarships and honors. It is a very rigorous test designed for four-year college-bound students. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT is also provides good practice for the upcoming SAT Test, and provides juniors with post high school planning materials. There is a $16.00 charge to take this optional test. Fee waivers are available for students who meet the free lunch criteria for the district. Click here for more information.

Rep. Mike Halpin Honors Music Department
Thank you to IL State Representative Mike Halpin (D 72nd Dist) for stopping by RHS this morning to formal recognize the Music Department for their Third Straight IHSA Class B Sweepstakes State Championship!! Rep. Halpin read a formal resolution and presented a certificate to the students at a brief assembly this morning. 

Rockridge FFA Greenhouse Helps Urban Garden Project

A small church is providing sizable benefits through its urban gardens in Rock Island.  Spearheaded by one of its elders, Broadway Presbyterian Church, with about 100 members, has been addressing food insecurity, challenges faced by refugees and immigrants and more, by working the soil.  Click here to read more...

#TeamEvelyn T-Shirt Orders
Valerie Kline is an English Teacher at RHS and is our Varsity Volleyball Coach. Her one year-old daughter, Evelyn, has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a form of cancer, and is undergoing treatment in Peoria.  A friend of Val's has designed and is producing a t-shirt to support #TeamEvelyn. WIU Livestock Judging Contest
Congratulations to the Rockridge FFA Livestock Judging Team for their outstanding performance at the WIU Contest last Friday! A total of 89 teams and 351 individuals competed.  The Rockridge HS Team placed FIRST in Beef, third in Sheep & Goats, fifth in Swine, and was the HIGH TEAM OVERALL!!!  Individually, Jake Bohnsack was SECOND in Sheep & Goats, NINTH in Beef, and FIFTH OVERALL. Brittany Olson placed ELEVENTH in Beef, ELEVENTH in Swine, and EIGHTH OVERALL. Mia Freyermuth placed NINTH in Sheep & Goats.  Other team members competing included Cole Whisman, Nathan Parchert, Brianna Gorham, Eliza Lilliman, Megan Hoag, & Hunter Johnson.

District Vision Town Meetings
The Rockridge CUSD #300 Board of Education invites ALL members of the Rockridge Community to participate in a series of town meetings this spring. The Board is conducting a Visioning and Goal-Setting process and needs public input. The purpose of the Vision work is for students, parents, staff and community members to dream for our future graduates. What skills and knowledge do they need to be prepared after they leave our schools? The Board will then take the feedback from the meetings and determine our Vision and Board Goals. Meetings are scheduled throughout March & April in various sites across the district. All meetings are from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.  Click here to learn more.

2017 RHS Academic Achievement Awards
The Rockridge Academic Achievement Awards will once again honor the top students in each class at a banquet on May 10, 2017. We will also recognize the top seniors in each of the departmental areas. These students have made a tremendous effort to achieve these top honors. Keep Rural Schools Growing 
America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, gives rural public school districts the opportunity to compete for grants of $10,000 or $25,000 for crucial science and math programs. FFA District SAE Interviews
Congratulations to the Rockridge FFA Members who Competed in the District 1 Proficiency interviews last night at Geneseo High School.  Nathan Flickinger was First in Fiber and/ Oil Crops and will compete at the State Contest on March 25th.  Tyler Jahn placed 2nd in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management.  Nathan Parchert placed 2nd in Swine Product Placement.  Great Job!!!!
